Correlating Two Important Events
The point of this analysis is to correlate two historical Biblical events from the time of Jesus’ death to Pentecost and thereafter.
For brevity: Animal sacrifices, drink offerings, and similar phraseology are omitted, as are verse numbers, except as references, since they distract the from the intent of this investigation. Bible quotes are copied from a KJV
tool and are written here in blue to distinguish them from comments and observations. No comments are from the Internet.
Now from the sixth hour (noon) there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour (our 3PM.) Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints
which slept arose, And came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the Holy City (Jerusalem), and appeared unto many. (Mat 27:50-53.)
WOW!
What does many mean? From Britannica Dictionary: used to refer to a large number of things or people.
Analysis: After three days and three nights from His death (Mat 12:40), Christ was born again, (first by the virgin Mary and second when He was resurrected) many bodies of the saints which slept arose out of their graves. These would be people the locals knew, not strangers, including possibly John the Baptist. This event demonstrated that God has the
power of the resurrection of the dead!
